The Rotary Club of Ashgrove/The Gap arranges and organizes the Ashgrove Carols by Candlelight community project in Dorrington Park normally on the Saturday evening before Christmas using the Northern Suburbs Hockey Club grounds.
The event is supported by The Gap Ward’s Councillor Geraldine Knapp who also arranges assistance with funding for the event through the Lord Mayor’s Suburban Initiative program as well as providing other support and assistance through her Ward Office. Scheduled time for commencement is 5.00pm.
The Rocus Band provides lively big band jazz entertainment to get everybody in a jolly mood. This is followed by a wonderful Christmas Carols program professionally presented by the Westside Orchestra and the Ignations Choir, with other local artists and very ably conducted by David Law.
The event is compered by one of the local TV or radio personalities. The children either bring or buy glow candles and bracelets to set the mood for the event.
A visit by Santa in his Sleigh is always a great hit with the little ones. A wonderful fireworks display concludes the evening.
The program is well received by the Ashgrove Community and supported by Ashgrove and the The Gap businesses.
