New Generations Services prepare young people for a better future by improving their life skills while recognising the diversity of their needs. Programs are also designed to help young people develop their potential.
Aims:
- To maintain the Club’s increased emphasis on providing youth services.
- Through active and regular contact with schools and school principals, continue to promote the opportunities that Rotary and our Club can offer young people in our community.
- To implement the structured Rotary International Programs for New Generations and other programs to improve the life skills of young people in our community.
Activities and programs:
- To sponsor and support:
One young person to participate in RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards).
Three young people to participate in RYPEN (Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment).
The participation of one selected student in NYSF (National Youth Science Forum) in anberra.
The participation of three students in The Science Experience in Brisbane.
One Grade 8 student in the music program at The Gap State High School with a bursary through REAP (Rotary Education Assistance Program).
- Support and mentor the Interact Clubs at Mt. St. Michaels College and The Gap State High School
- The Youth Exchange Program:
Prepare and support Outbound Exchange commencing January 2011.
Host an Inbound Youth Exchange student in 2011.
- Present Rotary All-Rounder Awards (medallions & prizes) to nominated students at School Speech Nights (at 11 schools).
- Promote RYDA (Rotary Youth Driver Awareness) at schools in our area.
