Community Service

Mission
The aims of Community Service are to provide assistance and support to the local community where there is a need and to enhance the understanding and goodwill between Rotarians and the local community.

Objectives
The objective of Community Service is the implementation of successful community projects.

Actions

Gap Regional Instrumental Primary Performers School (GRIPPS)
To continue and grow this program that has been very well accepted over the years that our Club  Ashgrove /The Gap  has been involved, giving young people the experience in combined entertainment plus having the community involved in a fun night with the concert plus food provided by Ashgrove /The Gap Rotary Club.

Australia Day Citizenship
This project initially instigated by our club has become widely accepted, to have “New Australians” formally being recognised and welcomed into our communities. Entertainment to get acquainted with our way of life is part of the day’s routine.

Clean up Australia Day
Held in March of each year has been supported by our club over the years.

Wilcannia Park
Keep this park clean and suitable for the community to partake in having a family Bar – B – Que; this area was set aside and developed by this club some years ago, by the energy and support of hands on to make this “Our Park”

Mental Health Forum
Continue this program by having local schools involved ie, Mt St Michaels, and The Gap High Schools. Mental health is a necessary subject that we must encourage and impart our youth to learn and be aware of this complex which is not always fully understood.
